Chinese and East Asian
If you’re ever strolling along Clerkenwell’s Old Street, why not pop into Thai City for a wonderful meal? The first thing you’ll notice about the restaurant is the vibrant and stylish decor. The red, purple and gold colour scheme continues throughout, giving the venue a touch of elegance and sophistication.
Thai City serves up exquisite food with aplomb. My guest and I began with a starting platter, piled high with chicken satay, squid rings, fishcakes and prawn toast, well-matched with a selection of dips. We then whetted our appetites with mild tom kha soup and peppered duck salad. Our main course were of an equally high standard, with my kang panang – sliced beef in a creamy coconut sauce with a hint of lime – being of particular note. The meat was tender and the accompanying rice was fluffy and soft. My partner also thoroughly enjoyed her chicken pad Thai, and declared it one of the best she’s had. A bottle of sauvignon blanc, selected from the concise wine list , provided the perfect accompaniment to our meal. The restaurant also offers an array of beers and spirits, and cocktails too.
Also worthy of merit was the service. The staff were attentive and polite, confidently guiding us through the menu, and we left making plans to bring our family and friends here next time.
