L’Aventure is a long-established and much-loved corner of authentic France in a quiet cul de sac just off Abbey Road. This traditional French restaurant makes a sophisticated yet cosy venue for a leisurely lunch with a friend or for a romantic date. Given the intimate size of L’Aventure, booking is definitely recommended.
The select and regularly changing menu features classic French dishes that may include foie gras terrine, artichoke salad, and piping hot escargots to start, followed by main courses of duck or beef, served meltingly pink and tender, and refined fish dishes such as monkfish in saffron and mussel sauce. The dishes are elegantly presented and reasonably sized, hopefully leaving room for a dessert such as crème brûlée, chocolate truffle or the superb apple tart. Nouvelle cuisine this is not; you can expect hearty, comforting French favourites that are perfectly matched by the old-fashioned French sophistication of the decor.
As is to be expected from a French establishment, there are some delicious cheeses and an excellent wine list that features a particularly good selection from Bordeaux.
The French waiters are suitably knowledgeable about the food and wine, and provide discreet, efficient service that allows you the time to savour your meal in this setting of comfortable luxury. The dining room is perfect for private parties, birthdays or weddings, for 35 to 50 guests.
