Carluccio's - St John's Wood
Carluccio's Italian cafés, restaurants and food shops offer friendly and affordable Italian eating, drinking and shopping in a relaxed environment. Serving regional Italian food, their doors are always open, whether you fancy a coffee, a leisurely three-course meal with wine or anything in between. The seasonally changing menu boasts an array of dishes featuring good-quality Italian food lovingly prepared. Diners can enjoy light antipasti, salads, homemade pasta, meat, fish, vegetarian dishes and gluten-free mains, plus decadent desserts. The food is complemented by an excellent list of carefully selected regional Italian wines sourced exclusively by Carluccio's. Take a seat in one of the light and airy dining rooms and peruse the extensive menu. To start, the generous 'antipasto supremo' is ideal for sharing with your companion, or equally delicious is the farfalle pasta with tuna, peppers, sundried tomatoes, green beans and pesto. When you're ready to move on (after all, this is Italian dining, so it feels only right to sit back and linger over your meal) the pan-fried fillet of sea bass with tomato salsa is magnificent. Follow this light option with a bit of indulgence; the cioccolato fondente - a warm chocolate pudding with almonds, Kahlua and vanilla ice cream - will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Likewise the prices are sure to please, with starters and desserts priced from £4.65 and mains from £7.95. Bottles of wine start at just £13.95 and prosecco is available for just £4.95 a glass, so it would seem wrong not to enjoy a glass or two. Each Carluccio's has its own food shop, stocked with beautifully packaged specialist artisan products sourced from small, Italian family suppliers. These include top-quality regional olive oils and vinegars, the very best quality dried pasta and risotto rice, plus speciality biscuits and irresistible savoury treats. During Easter and Christmas there is an abundance of gorgeous products and gifts in store that would be impossible to find anywhere else. Finally, visit the deli and choose from an enticing selection of fresh Italian produce including meats, cheeses, olives and tarts, as well as freshly made sandwiches, salads and dishes to take away. Bellissimo.
