The Water Poet
The Water Poet is an award-winning pub sitting in a corner of East London, just a short walk from Liverpool Street station, as well as Spitalfi elds and Brick Lane markets. Known for its glorious suntrap beer garden and garden bar, cinema, pool parlour, numerous event spaces and frequent events, the restaurant is a destination in its own right.
Exceptional British plates are served in the casual dining room, which is where I kicked my meal off with exquisite feta cheese fritters served with tomato and oregano sauce. I then tucked into Toulouse sausages with mash and beer-braised onion gravy, before a deliciously indulgent sticky toffee pudding arrived. Everything was washed down with a fruity Melodias malbec. The Water Poet is a gem I will definitely be revisiting.
