The Water Poet
The Water Poet is an award-winning pub sitting in a corner of East London, just a short walk from Liverpool Street station, as well as Spitalfields and Brick Lane markets. Known for its glorious sun-trap beer garden and garden bar, cinema, pool parlour, numerous event spaces and frequent events, the restaurant is a destination in its own right. Exceptional British plates are served in the casual dining room, which is where I kicked my meal off with an exquisite gravadlax, cured in-house with a hint of gin and served with heritage beetroot. I then tucked into roast beef with rich gravy, a huge Yorkshire pudding, crispy roast potatoes and colourful vegetables, before a deliciously indulgent sticky toffee pudding arrived. Everything was washed down with a fruity Santa Ana malbec. The Water Poet is a gem I will definitely be revisiting.
