Rosa’s Thai Cafe - Victoria
From humble beginnings as a market stall in East London eight years ago, to a collection of seven restaurants, Rosa’s is the home of fresh, authentic Thai cuisine. Founded by husband-and-wife team Alex and Saiphin Moore, Rosa’s takes the inspiration from Saiphin’s hometown in northern Thailand and the vibes of East London to bring diners buzzing venues with worthy principles and a punchy menu.
Local produce leads the menu and the free-spirited team are always striving to make each venue more sustainable. Take the tasty dishes on offer and easy-going café ambience and you’ve got the perfect place in which to unwind. Unwind we did, when we visited the Carnaby Street branch. As we debated what to order, we munched spicy prawn crackers with homemade peanut sauce. Main courses meander through a range of Thai treats from stir-fries, noodles and curries to salads and specialities. I highly recommend the pork skewers with honey and soy, and the Northern-style grilled sausage with lemongrass and chilli to start. Next up was spicy beef salad – a tender, aromatic fillet atop a bed of fresh green leaves, drunken noodles and king prawns, and a fragrant chilli and basil stir-fry with chicken and fluffy steamed jasmine rice.
Fusion cocktails accompany the food – our favourite was the Co Pi Pi, a refreshing mix of vodka, lime, coconut and sea salt. We ended our fantastic meal with some homemade ice creams, the green tea flavour scoring top points.
