Set in a sumptuous, gold-accented dining room in Mayfair - London's most glamorous district - Tamarind is a world-renowned Indian restaurant. It is the finest place in Europe to enjoy authentic Indian haute cuisine, and specialises in stunning dishes from north-western and southern India.

Tamarind offers a modern interpretation of Moghul cuisine - the courtly food of ancient Rajasthan that centres around tandoor ovens, in which a selection of authentic breads, marinated meats, game, fish and shellfish are grilled over hot charcoals. Executive chef Alfred Prasad is highly lauded for his originality. His mouth-watering seasonal menus put a contemporary spin on traditional dishes. His experience is unparalleled: he ran a series of restaurants in five-star hotels in southern India before coming to England in 2000. He and his team regularly go back to the Subcontinent on research trips, sourcing ingredients and picking up cutting-edge cooking techniques.

Tamarind offers a daily set lunch menu, as well as a Sunday tasting menu compiled of signature recipes. The team are delighted to disprove the theory that Asian food cannot be paired with wine; they are always on hand to recommend the best bottle to match a specific dish or menu. Tamarind also offers delectable desserts, exotic aperitifs and an extensive list of seasonal cocktails such as star-anise-infused Scotch rounded with Drambuie and pineapple juice, and basil-infused gin with passion fruit juice and apple juice.
