Spaghetti House – Marylebone
Spaghetti House on Goodge Street is a culinary oasis. The restaurant is located just off Tottenham Court Road in the famous and historical Fitzrovia area. Once you’ve been welcomed by the charming restaurant team, it’s difficult to believe you’re nestled just north of Oxford Street and Soho, and besides Bloomsbury and Marylebone. Serving busy workers, relaxed tourists and sated shoppers alike, Spaghetti House provides welcome respite from the hustle and bustle and offers a dose of convivial Italian hospitality.
My partner and I shared a generously heaped plate of delicate, crispy zucchini fritte as we perused the menu. My partner went for the avocado bruschetta for a light starter, which comprised hearty sourdough with a creamy layer of smashed avocado, sundried tomatoes and a boiled egg scattered with sunflower seeds and lemon juice. I kicked things off with a serving of squid accompanied by aioli. For the main event, I chose the beautifully presented courgette spaghetti with shrimp, juicy cherry tomatoes and king prawns dressed in spicy tomato broth. The restaurant lives up to its name with its twist on classic Italian cuisine. Following the manager’s recommendation, I paired my dish with a glass of Orvieto that complemented the seafood excellently. My partner ordered a comforting pasta dish with succulent meatballs and paired it with refreshing homemade Sicilian lemonade. From an enticing dessert menu, I devoured the homemade crème caramel dessert. My partner took a fresh mint tea for a tranquil end to the meal, while I sipped a decadent limoncello digestif. With such attentive staff and a friendly ambience, Spaghetti House is a truly special hideaway.
