London Steakhouse Co. City
Characterised by delicious fare, stylish interiors and informative yet unobtrusive service, London Steakhouse Co. City is an award-winning eatery that leaves a lasting impression on all who visit. It certainly did when we popped along one Friday lunchtime. Complete with a cocktail bar as well as a private dining room for up to 20 people, it’s an elegant space that seamlessly blends white linen, sparkly glasses and twinkling lights. Whether you’re dining à deux or en masse for a special occasion, you’ll be glad you stopped by to sample what’s on offer.
Once seated, we felt at ease as we perused the à la carte and set menu, which are defined by lip-smacking steaks and timeless British dishes. It was clear from the get-go that quality ingredients are at the forefront of the menus, and all meat is impeccably sourced from Royal Warrant holders, Aubrey Allen, which the team trusts and respects. A carefully drafted wine list and cocktail menu completes the offering and provided us with plenty of tipples throughout our visit.
It’s safe to say we were blown away by both the quality of the fare and the service. To begin, my starter of crab salad with red apple, mint and lime was wonderfully fresh and light. My companion’s special starter of roasted beetroot Carpaccio served with goat’s cheese, candied caramelised walnuts and horseradish vinaigrette was crunchy, earthy and tangy, and proved an outstanding dish. For the main event I opted for juicy 28-day-aged 12oz sirloin steak served on the bone. My companion’s smoked haddock fishcake with a comforting, creamy sauce and new potatoes was also superbly executed. From an enticing selection of desserts we shared – and quickly devoured – a splendid sticky toffee pudding and a medley of British cheeses, which arrived with an almond fig cake and delicious quince curd.
London Steakhouse Co. City is a superb haunt if you’re after a first-class dinner or lingering lunch, or simply some of the best steak in the city.
