If you are seeking a luxurious dining experience, then look no further than Green's Restaurant and Oyster Bar. Covering two great London locations, Green's delivers the best in British seasonal cuisine served in opulent surroundings.

After opening the restaurant in Duke Street in 1982, owner and proprietor Simon Parker Bowles expanded, opening a second restaurant in the City in September 2009. Housed within the former headquarters of Lloyds bank, Green's grade-II-listed home is the perfect setting for what can only be described as the very finest in fine dining; the grand entrance hall and marble ballroom-like staircase took my breath away. Having been shown to my table, a lavish leather-bound booth, my remarkably attentive and courteous waiter Ben brought over the drinks; which he subtly re-filled whenever my glass approached empty.

Although Green's specialises in seafood, there are plenty of other dishes besides; for instance, to start I enjoyed the sautéed duck liver and foie gras with caramelised apples and cider vinaigrette. The distinct rich flavour and the smooth texture of the foie gras was perfectly undercut by the subtle sharpness of the apples - the first, but not the last time I will order foie gras. To follow I had the pleasure of sampling the pressed pork belly and roasted langoustine with confit potato and red onion jus. The pork was moist, delicious and cooked to perfection, and the sweet, beautifully seasoned langoustine made an unusual but perfect partner. I was also lucky enough to try some of the Devon spring lamb marinated in honey and lime which was succulent, tender and very, very tasty.

Unable to make up my mind, to end the meal I had not one, but three desserts. They were bread and butter pudding with vanilla ice cream, rhubarb Charlotte served with vanilla anglaise, and baked cheesecake with raspberry compote. My favourite had to be the wonderfully light baked cheesecake; the rich, creamy flavour contrasted perfectly with the sharp raspberry compote. That said, the bread and butter pudding was also a delight; it was nice to see such a humble, familiar dessert given a fine-dining makeover, without it losing the reason I loved it so much in the first place.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe the experience of eating at Green's Restaurant and Oyster Bar. The cuisine is exceptional, and all ingredients are sourced from within the British Isles, while each of the wines on the extensive list has been personally selected to accompany the food. With service and surroundings that are second to none, these two restaurants should be among London's list of must-visit landmarks.
