Amongst the esteemed surroundings of the auction house and galleries, you'll find The Café at Sotheby's - a sublime restaurant offering food and service worthy of its surroundings. With an open-plan layout and refined decor, featuring gallery artwork, portraits and photography, this eatery is the epitome of sophistication. Smart, polite staff will cater to your every need and the menu showcases fine, fresh produce.

Visiting for lunch after a cultural London morning, we started our meal with pan-fried buffalo mozzarella saltimbocca, served with Marcona almonds, rocket salad and tapenade oil, and a light and zesty dish of crab spaghettini with parsley, lemon and chilli oil. As expected, each dish was delightfully presented, with fresh flavours to match. The Café's signature lobster club sandwich has been on the menu since Sotheby's first opened and is just as popular today. Rich chunks of lobster with a smooth lemon mayonnaise dressing packed into the sandwich make it a masterpiece that befits the venue.

The gorgeous food here comes courtesy of Laura Greenfield, who has been chef at The Café for nine years. Her imaginative, seasonal menus change weekly and I could really taste the freshness in my lavender crème brûlée - a simply gorgeous dessert with a delicate and very British twist. Quite simply, if you're after a top-quality, refined dining experience, The Café at Sotheby's is just place.
