For a taste of Italy in the heart of London head to Gatti’s. The first branch can be found a short stroll from Liverpool Street station and has been in business for around 25 years. The second, newer branch is situated around the corner from Moorgate underground.
At both venues, all food is cooked to order using only the freshest ingredients. To make the most of seasonal produce, each restaurant boasts a unique, weekly changing specials menu. Visit the Gatti’s on Ropemaker Street on a weekday morning and tuck into a warm and hearty breakfast. Visit either branch at lunchtime or in the evening and select from the à la carte. Why not begin with homemade lobster bisque, or seared scallops and chopped bacon on a bed of spinach? Afterwards, opt for the ravioli: pasta parcels stuffed with veal and chicken. Alternatively, plump for fettuccine with smoked salmon, shrimps and a luscious, creamy sauce. The pan-fried veal in a rosemary and white wine sauce is also highly commended. Finish with something from the dessert trolley or a smooth liqueur coffee. Accompanying the food is a well-thought-out wine list, which includes Old and New World wines.
Gatti’s can also cater for private events, with both venues boasting a private dining room. The City Point branch also has a large wine bar – perfect for pre-meal drinks or bar snacks.
