The Thomas Cubitt
The food here is not your usual pub-restaurant fare; I started with a wonderful tomato and orange soup, which made a light and tasty starter. My friend chose the roast pigeon breast, which was beautifully presented (The Cubitt is big on presentation - everything from the decor to the execution of the food is uber-stylish). For my main course I opted for the spinach and potato pie with morels, served with roasted carrots and British asparagus, which was outstanding both in taste and texture. My guest enjoyed the sea bream with roasted potatoes, courgettes and a red pepper sauce. Despite being comfortably full we somehow found room for pudding, both choosing the dark chocolate and hazelnut cake, which arrived with hazelnut cream and chocolate ice cream and was outstandingly indulgent; a real must for those with a sweet tooth. The Thomas Cubitt is a great venue for a relaxed night out; with its lovely location, top-quality ingredients, outdoor seating, imaginative menus and professional staff, it is well worth a visit.
