Have you dreamt of dining at a London members' club? Well, this is your chance. Just around the corner from the Bank of England, the London Capital Club awaits. Opened in 1994, this is a reincarnation of the Gresham Club, which started this noble tradition here in 1843.

Inside this Grade II listed building you'll find @15 Bar & Restaurant, which also welcomes non-members. When we visited at lunchtime, we took our seats in the dining room on the lower ground floor, which has an altogether contemporary, relaxed feel. As we perused the array of modern British cuisine on the refined menu, we couldn't wait for our first courses to arrive. To start, my classic hand-cut beef tartare, served with delicious Béarnaise cream and crunchy croutons, simply melted in the mouth, while the skilfully presented confit duck leg, chicory and blood orange salad tasted as good as it looked. For the main course, my partner's roasted wild sea bass, served with rich, buttery citrus beurre blanc, was truly exceptional. My delicate guinea fowl breast contrasted beautifully with the black pudding, and the accompanying sweet parsnips and juicy chestnut mushrooms were superb.

Ours was a feast of pure indulgence and the service was first class. If you're at work or play in the City, @15 at the London Capital Club is the ideal destination for casual dining.
