This lovely little restaurant is proud to bring a taste of Greece to the residents of Southsea - and does so with gusto. With a traditional Greek feel, not only conveyed in terms of cuisine, but also through the decor and music, Steki treats guests to an authentic experience to remember. Forget about the hustle and bustle outside and lose yourself in the atmosphere of this fantastic, family-run slice of the Mediterranean.

Steki's relaxed ambience is perfect for the enjoyment of the vast array of Greek dishes on the extensive menu, which boasts something for everyone - there's even a cheeseburger for the less adventurous. Greek hospitality is second to none, so expect generous portions. The vegetarian mezze starter was delicious, accompanied by pitta bread straight from the grill. Main courses ranged from moussaka and calamari to the restaurant's own special - a veritable feast combining chicken souvlaki, pork souvlaki, sausage, soutzoukakia and Cypriot-style sheftalia meatballs; served with chips and salad on the side, it was more than a match for me. Be sure to sample the galaktoboureko - a popular Greek dessert of crispy filo pastry filled with custard and drizzled with sweet syrup - and to finish, be brave and knock back the customary shot of ouzo. The perfect venue for a birthday party or any celebratory meal.
