Just six minutes’ walk from King’s Cross – the perfect central spot from which to explore London – is Foodilic. It’s cosy, quiet and friendly, with polished tree trunk tables and shell-encrusted mirrors, giving a clue that here, it’s all about what’s healthy and natural.

The ethos is not simply a health-conscious one though, but is a commitment to flavour and fun. From colourful freshly squeezed juices like my beetroot and apple juice, to tempting bowls of equally vibrant salads and excellent raw vegan choices, owner Peter’s approach to cooking is truly innovative – especially when it comes to his beautifully layered raw vegan lasagne made with cashews and vegan sushi. There are fish and meat options too, and breakfast is served from 8am so you can enjoy your eggs any which way, including Benedict or Florentine. Foodilic’s culinary influences span the globe and include Mediterranean and French – appropriate for such a fascinating, international area.

When I stopped by, fresh vegetables were being grated as I scoffed my delicious salmon fishcake with three salads – one including the superfood salad consisting of crunchy broccoli, cucumber, cracked wheat and goji berries. My chocolate and hazelnut raw vegan torte was the icing on the cake. Foodilic draws a large crowd, particularly thanks to the selection of dairy-free, egg-free, fl our-free and sugar-free options available.
