Dog & Partridge
The Dog & Partridge in Orsett is a long-established Essex pub. They offer excellent meals in the restaurant, and in summer months you can also dine al fresco in the large garden. Take a seat near the pond and relax with a pint, and you’ll soon be calling the Dog & Partridge your favourite pub.
Our genial host Mark took the reins in early 2017, having built a stellar reputation at his other venue in Harlow. He’s brought his expertise with him, to the delight of Orsett locals. The pleasant restaurant, which overlooks the delightful garden, specialises in mainly traditional English fare with a good selection of salads, burgers and sandwiches, and a children’s menu. You’ll also find a good choice of daily specials. All the dishes are prepared on the premises and ingredients are sourced locally. To start, I chose spicy chicken wings, while my partner opted for breaded mushrooms, both of which were piping hot and tasty. My main of sausages and mash followed and proved to be hearty and delicious. Mark sources the sausages from Churchgate Sausage Shop in Harlow and I don’t dispute their claim that they are the best in the UK. My partner’s cod and chips was equally accomplished. The tempting desserts included apple crumble, jam roly-poly and chocolate fudge cake – simple classics done well.
One visit to the Dog & Partridge is all it takes – you’ll become a regular at this family-friendly pub, just as we have.
