Potters Crouch, St Albans, AL2 3NN
The Holly Bush is a beautiful 17th-Century ale house tucked away in the country hamlet of Potters Crouch, and yet within a stone's throw of the M25 and M1. The recently refurbished interior retains exposed dark wood beams, original fireplaces, highly polished antique dressers and tables, and beautifully cut glasses, which create an olde-worlde charm. The pub has been family-run for a third of a century and, among its abundance of accolades, was recently decorated at the 2012 Fuller's Master Cellarman Finals. The bar offers an excellent range of well-kept cask ales, including ever-changing guest ales, and wine enthusiasts will be spoilt by the carefully selected cosmopolitan wine list.

The seasonal dinner menu boasts pub classics with a contemporary twist. The food is locally sourced and organic where possible, and favourites include homemade beef and ale pie, Cumberland sausage and mash, and Stilton-stuffed baked mushrooms. A good range of lighter bites, such as ploughman's, platters, jacket potatoes and their famous chilli are also available at lunchtime.

At the rear of the pub is a beautiful secluded garden, perfect for relaxing with a drink and soaking up the summer sun. Available for functions, The Holly Bush also caters for wedding receptions, corporate events and celebrations. Whatever the occasion, escape to The Holly Bush and indulge in an enchanting atmosphere, hearty food and superb real ales.
