The Thai Kitchen at The Harpenden Arms
Chinese and East Asian
We were engulfed in the warmth and friendliness of The Harpenden Arms as soon as we stepped in from the pavement, and we headed straight to the bar to enjoy a fantastic award-winning Fuller's ale before tucking into our meal. Moving through into the restaurant area, the relaxed atmosphere added to our sense of comfort. This is an ideal venue for a romantic Eastern-themed date or a vibrant evening with a large group.
Casting our eyes over the menu, we saw a wide selection of starters, soups, noodles, stir-fries, curry, rice and spicy Thai salads. The selection provides options for every palate, and our concerns about narrowing our choices down to just a few delicious and tempting dishes were soon dispelled by the attentive staff who helpfully guided us. We started with the prawns tempura, served with a moreish mix of vegetables in a light crisp batter. On the advice of our waiter, I then opted for the house special, Weeping Tiger sizzling sirloin, which proved to be a dish bursting with flavour. My companion chose a signature pad Thai cooked to perfection - rice noodles stir fried with fillet of chicken, prawns, diced pork and a medley of vegetables. Many of the creations offer a considerate choice of pork, chicken, beef or duck options, and there is a myriad of side dishes to complement your main choice - we selected noodles, sticky rice and steamed vegetables.
One of the many delights of Thai cuisine is the informality of the menus, which allow you to order an assortment of dishes and share everything among your dining companions. Coupled with the convival essence of a British pub, the inspired Thai Kitchen at The Harpenden Arms is the perfect place to enjoy this sociable culinary culture.
