Craft & Cleaver

0.5 miles
62 Catherine Street, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL3 5BU

Occupying a prime position in St Albans, Craft & Cleaver is a friendly neighbourhood restaurant and bar inspired by the incredible smokehouses of Brooklyn. Offering authentic wood-fired barbecue fare alongside craft beer and hand-crafted cocktails, this fantastic eatery is sure to impress. The industrial-style interior is cool and contemporary, with exposed brick, rustic wood and metal light fittings.

The menu is a meat-lover’s paradise, but there are several vegan and vegetarian options too. Start with the smoked pork taco with salsa verde, Margarita-poached pear and blue cheese, or flavoursome barbecued butternut squash with kale, date dressing, tahini and candied nuts. To follow, you have to try the exceptional barbecue trays – all of the succulent meat is smoked on-site in imported wood-smokers, and served with fries, buttermilk slaw and pickles. The Jacob’s Ladder beef rib glazed with treacle barbecue sauce is a delicious option – why not add another meat like buttermilk fried chicken or the Texas jalapeño sausage? The juicy burgers are equally delicious, with the likes of the French Dip available, comprising two 4oz beef patties, Swiss cheese, blue cheese, crispy shallots, mustard mayo and gravy for dipping. With incredible food, friendly service and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, Craft & Cleaver ticks all the boxes.
