This busy, fully licensed and popular café restaurant is so much more than it first appears. Its modest frontage hides a dining experience that you won't want to miss. A step inside reveals a stylish dining area and confidence-inspiring open kitchen, leading through to a bright conservatory with glorious views of the estuary. During warm weather the doors pull back, offering customers the joy of dining alfresco on the spacious decked terrace - complete with seating for 60, large parasols and lighting for evening dining.

How better to spend a few hours than with family or friends, enjoying creative yet unpretentious food in such lovely surroundings' The Grove is open every day for breakfast and lunch. Pop in early and tuck into their full English (£8), a delicious vegetarian option (£7.50), or a treat such as smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, truffle oil and toasted brioche (£6.50). Lunch also offers plenty of choice. Try the chop salad - a true Grove favourite - with warm chicken and bacon, blue cheese, avocado, red onions and mixed leaves, served with their special oak-aged balsamic and extra virgin olive oil dressing. The likes of Thai green vegetable curry with sweet potato, broccoli, asparagus and French beans (£9) and a variety of hot filled flatbreads make up a delicious selection. The specials board is an added bonus, with dishes such as stir-fry with duck, chicken, beef or prawn, a spicy Asian sauce, egg noodles and Thai basil (£10.50 to £12); or savoury tart of the day with chunky fries and a side salad (£7.75).

The equally tempting evening menu may include Moroccan spiced lamb burgers on hummus-topped ciabatta with avocado salsa and house fries (£12), asparagus, broad bean and dolcelatte risotto (£12), or duck confit with puy lentils on rosti potato (£14). All dishes include vegetables, so there'll be no nasty hidden extras on your bill. Sunday roasts (£12) and vegetarian roasts (£10) are available every week (excluding summer), and The Grove is great for families at any time, with children's menus available. Its informal atmosphere, excellent setting and dedicated staff mean your visit to The Grove is sure to be a special one
