On top of being an excellent performing arts venue, Cliffs Pavilion boasts a wonderful restaurant with stunning views over the Thames estuary. The seasonal menus have something for everyone, whether you want to grab a quick bite before the show or settle in for a full three-course meal. Special dietary requirements are readily catered for, with vegan and gluten-free options ensuring that nobody misses out.
You might like to start with the Atlantic prawn and crayfish cocktail, or perhaps the halloumi bites with red onion chutney. For the main course, plump for the slow-cooked lamb shank with creamy mash, root vegetables and rosemary and redcurrant sauce. Round things off with sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and banana ice cream, or the apple and blackberry crumble. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for seasonal specialities that make the most of the fresh produce available.
Alternatively, you could really treat yourself with the afternoon tea. Tuck into a chorizo sausage roll or warm goat’s cheese and kale buns before four of a selection of sandwiches. The Brie and cranberry relish on a mini soda bread loaf is always popular. Once the savouries have been devoured, move on to the sweet treats. As well as warm sultana scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, you’ll find orange and poppy seed cake, blueberry fool, chocolate brownie and roast plum and cheesecake tart. Add a glass of Prosecco and you’ve got an occasion to remember.
