The Fox Inn is an 18th-century pub that has been under the stewardship of the Gibson family since 2002. Plenty has been done to maintain the pub’s characterful features, and the extension to the restaurant and 12 en-suite bedrooms were built with care to complement the original decor and other historic touches like the original ceiling beams and old fireplace.
The Gibsons also ensure that The Fox doesn’t lose its place as a go-to venue for the Matching Tye community. This restaurant hosts occasional live music and karaoke nights, plus a monthly quiz night. In July, The Fox are hosting a summer beer festival, with a winter beer festival held in February. Punters can also look forward to the now-famous New Year’s Eve fancy dress party, too. Visit The Fox at any time to enjoy the hearty traditional food that’s helped this pub make a name for itself.
Begin with the ever-popular breaded mushrooms with garlic mayonnaise or classic prawn cocktail, and follow with a plate of homemade lasagne with garlic bread and salad, or a hearty portion of lamb’s liver and bacon with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Equally, the desserts are all long-running classics, and will see you home with a full tum.
