The Green Man
This Jacobean-style inn is a traditional gem. Many of the original 14th-century features, including wooden beams, can still be spotted inside this Grade II listed building. Whenever you find yourself at The Green Man, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome and find it hard to resist ordering a bite to eat.
Friendly staff and a talented kitchen team work their magic to bring you plates of fresh, honest fare from the extensive, seasonal menus that can be adapted to suit diners’ tastes. Classics include hand-battered cod and chips, Brewer’s chicken, and Black Angus 28-day-aged steaks. Hearty and comforting food comes in the form of the award-winning steak and ale pie, oven-baked lasagne, and gourmet burgers served with skin-on fries and slaw. If popping in for lunch, expect to see jacket potatoes, sandwiches and lighter dishes such as mac and cheese and wholetail scampi grace the menu. Sunday sees an impressive roast with unlimited gravy added to the bill of fare.
