The Pied Bull
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The restaurant has a relaxed, casual feel and upon our arrival we took a table towards the middle of the semi-open-plan layout, where our waitress soon arrived to take our drinks order. She then gave us some time to ponder over the lunchtime menu, which offered plenty to consider. Eventually making our decisions, we began with orange and carrot soup with crusty bread, and chorizo and halloumi skewers - both were full of flavour. The balance of sweet and tangy in the soup was just right, while the creamy grilled halloumi was a spot-on accompaniment to the spicy chorizo sausage. The portions sizes were pitched perfectly, leaving room while warming our tastebuds for the main event.
We had heard that all of The Pied Bull's meat is sourced from the award-winning Ginger Pig Farm in Yorkshire, so we couldn't resist a try. I opted for hoisin beef stir fry with crispy vegetables and rice, and my partner enjoyed grilled salmon fillet accompanied by a mixed leaf and new potato salad with citrus mayonnaise. The beef dish was delicious and well seasoned, with rice cooked to perfection, and my guest (an avid fish fan) thoroughly enjoyed the salmon. To finish, I indulged in traditional apple crumble and custard, which was so generous I had to lay down my fork long before I wanted to - the warm and comforting sweetness reminded me of family feasts at home.
Set in Enfield, the most northerly borough of London, The Pied Bull is just a few minutes' drive from Junction 25 of the M25, the Caple Manor College and Gardens, and the Forty Hall Estate, making it ideally placed for a stop-off to enjoy some fantastic food, and great for a special evening or a meal for the whole family.
