The Almonry is a truly unique venue, nestled amongst the medieval precinct of Ely Cathedral in the beautiful riverside city of Ely. The main restaurant is located in a magnificent 13th-century undercroft, while the tearoom overlooks the gardens and provides the perfect setting for morning coffee and cake or the Almonry cream tea. These extensive gardens overlook Ely’s glorious cathedral with exterior seating for al fresco dining during the summer. The Almonry has an excellent reputation for its locally sourced, home-cooked food. The lunch menu offers freshly made sandwiches and salad platters, as well as seasonal soups, quiches, savoury pies and fresh fish. The puddings are legendary, including Lesley’s lemon meringue pie, summer pudding and warm treacle tart. The Almonry can seat up to 80 and is also available for private hire in the evening.
