The Live and Let Live
Just off London Road in Stanway, away from the hubbub, The Live and Let Live is a good old fashioned pub serving unpretentious, crowd-pleasing classics that hit the spot every time. Start your meal with the likes of deep-fried whitebait, and for main, choose from favourites such as steak and ale pie, or gammon with chunky chips. Seafood fans will be pleased to find the likes of salmon and prawn tagliatelle featuring alongside the traditional cod and chips on the menu. The dedicated vegetarian menu includes satisfying choices such as vegetable lasagne, vegetable madras and the option to build your own burger – which can also be enjoyed as a meaty main course. Finish up with an indulgent dessert – apple pie, meringue mountain or hearty rhubarb crumble served with custard or vanilla ice cream.
Beer connoisseurs will be happy with the extensive range on offer; one of the regular ales available is brewed especially for the pub and named after landlord Pete Freeman’s granddaughter. There is also the opportunity to try an extensive range of local tipples from Essex breweries. With a host of events throughout the year from the beer and sausage festival to quiz nights, cocktail nights and a Burns Night supper, there’s always something lively planned at The Live and Let Live. With large bar and lounge areas, this family- and dog-friendly pub provides a comfortable space in which to dine, drink and relax.
