The Three Horseshoes
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
If you’re on the hunt for somewhere with a warm welcome and a relaxed, casual atmosphere, look no further than The Three Horseshoes in Fordham. It flung open its doors in 2017 after a sympathetic refurbishment; ever since, this wonderful village pub has very much been the hub of the community.
The building dates back over 500 years, and features beautiful old beams and a splendid open fireplace. As well as the three main dining areas, there’s a garden with a covered seating area where The Shire, a delightful children’s play area, can be found. This family-friendly pub offers an excellent value children’s menu, with a two-course meal priced at just £6.
My dining companion and I were immediately made to feel welcome by Gilly Ryan and her team, who delivered excellent customer service with remarkable attention to detail. To start, my companion opted for the broccoli and Stilton soup, followed by pan-fried lamb’s liver and smoked bacon. I opted for grilled sardine fillet with roasted peppers and toasted focaccia, then tucked into a main course of white crab and mussel linguine. To finish, the traditional summer pudding and Saint Arnold double chocolate brownie rounded off our delightful meal. The food, sourced locally and delivered fresh daily, was faultless and the service outstanding.
