The Black Buoy
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The Black Buoy is a 300-year-old inn located a short stroll from the River Colne. The pub was purchased by a local consortium in 2013, who completely restored the venue and reopened it as a free house. Behind its quaint brick frontage, you’ll find a warm welcome and characterful setting with roaring fires, beamed ceilings, wooden floors and echoes of the pub’s nautical history.
As a freehold pub, the Black Buoy offers a regularly changing range of bespoke real ale, craft beer and bottled beer. The wine list contains fascinating choices from near and far, with something to suit all palates. High-quality fresh coffee and a good range of soft drinks are available, too. In addition to a variety of drinks, the pub also serves excellent British pub food, which is all home-cooked by the dedicated chef and his team.
The Captains’ Room seats up to ten people and can be booked for private dining and for business meetings. Outside there is a beautiful terraced garden, which is a great spot in which to enjoy a bite to eat and a refreshing drink in the warmer months. Diners are welcome to bring their four-legged friends and there’s ample parking available, along with bike racks for cyclists. Well-behaved children are also welcome at the pub. Why not stop overnight in the comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation? The Christmas day menu promises to please, so book ahead. For anyone who needs to get online, there’s free Wi-Fi access.
