Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Whether you’re after a quiet drink or hearty pub fare, The Anchor in Danbury offers a warm welcome to all. Here you can quench your thirst or have your fill in the unmistakeable ambience of a quintessentially English country inn. With exposed oak beams and a warming open fire, the main bar is spacious and relaxed, while the other, smaller bar has a more intimate, snug feel and dogs are allowed. Head over to the conservatory and you’ll be met with a light, airy dining area and delightful rural views. Outside, there’s a large children’s play area and a petanque pitch where families can enjoy the outside space. Wherever you choose to spend your visit, you’re sure to find atmosphere in abundance.
As for the food, homemade dishes, prepared using locally sourced ingredients, are showcased on The Anchor’s various menus. At lunchtime, light snacks are available alongside more substantial meals, while, from the evening menu, the traditional homemade cheesy cottage pie and the prime sirloin steak are wise choices. Alternatively, an extensive, ever-changing specials board ensures there is something for everyone, with afternoon tea served on Friday and Saturday, and roast dinners with all the trimmings on Sunday. The Anchor is also a member of the esteemed Head Brewer’s Club and is proud to serve a wide selection of popular lagers and a choice of quality ales and fine wines.
