From the picturesque exterior of The Cuckoo in Radley Green, it is abundantly clear that this is a wonderful place to dine and make merry. The pale blue seating outside provides the perfect spot for a drink in the sun, and gives a warm welcome that is echoed by the attentive service. Food is as fresh as it comes, with a herb garden in situ and locally sourced, free range produce including asparagus and honey. The dishes on the menu mirror this fresh, local ethos, with the likes of sumptuous honey- and garlic-roasted guinea fowl and gratin potatoes taking centre stage. In winter look out for Brendon’s steamed suet steak and kidney pudding. Fresh bread is baked on-site daily using Marriages flour, and The Cuckoo make their own delicious ice cream. Cosy yet refined, The Cuckoo is the ideal spot in which to host a special occasion, with the seating extending out into the gardens in the summer.
