1 Exchange Way, Chelmsford, CM1 1XB
Ideally located in Chelmsford's town centre, Bar 1 serves the very best of Italian cuisine and is open all day, making it a top choice for those wishing to eat before heading to the theatre or cinema. It is the perfect venue for business lunches and breakfast meetings, but is also ideal if you are just meeting friends for coffee, a light lunch or a cocktail or two.

This family-run restaurant is as Italian as it is possible to be. Authentic ingredients are sourced from Italy to create a menu of both traditional and modern Italian dishes. The stone pizza oven, imported from Italy, lends dishes even more of a traditional Italian taste. Alfresco dining in summer completes the Continental experience. In the evening, Bar 1 caters for every occasion, from romantic dinners and gourmet evenings with live music, to dinner parties in the restaurant and lively gatherings in the Underground Bar - party menus are available from £15.50 for two courses inclusive of coffee.

Whenever you find yourself at Bar 1, you'll find plenty of choice. Perhaps sample something from the à la carte, opt for a light bite or salad, or try a house speciality. House favourites include linguine frutti di mare, featuring flat spaghetti cooked with king prawns, mussels and calamari in a spicy tomato and mild chilli sauce. For all these reasons and more, I recommend a visit as soon as possible
