Agora at The Copper Kettle
Agora at The Copper Kettle is one of Cambridge’s oldest restaurants and boasts a location to die for – in the heart of the historic city and just across the road from the stunning King’s College Chapel.
In contrast to the historic building over which it looks, the interior is modern, light and airy, but the traditional black beams still remain. It is a lovely space for hungry tourists and locals alike to refuel. During the day, Agora serves a delicious café-style menu – think all-day breakfasts with fresh local eggs and tasty hash browns, decadent cream teas with fresh scones, homemade soup of the day and well-filled jacket potatoes. Then, come the evening, an extensive menu of Mediterranean cuisine caters for those looking for something more substantial. Meat-eaters, pescatarians and vegetarians will all find something to tempt from the wide variety – the menu covers everything from hot and cold mezze starters to grilled meats and oven-baked dishes. Diners might like to tuck into grilled halloumi or dolma (vine leaves stuffed with rice and herbs), before moving on to a main of smoky mixed grill, hearty moussaka, or chicken and lamb halep kebab in a special aubergine sauce. When you’re ready to wind down, something sweet from the dessert menu will be just the thing to round off the evening – finish with a flourish with some homemade baklava, a sweet chocolate treat or handmade cheesecake.
Large groups and those celebrating special occasions are welcome, and the team prides itself on providing complete customer satisfaction. So whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you’ll be well served at Agora at The Copper Kettle – and did I mention the view?
