The Brave Nelson has been a firm fixture in the town of Brentwood for over 150 years. Close to the town and yet surrounded by countryside, this venue offers everything that's great about a traditional, rural pub.
The food is home-cooked, using high quality ingredients. Begin with breaded garlic mushrooms, or perhaps bruschetta topped with tomato and basil. Fishcakes are accompanied by a fragrant lemon and herb couscous, and make a delicious main course. Alternatively, the selection of burgers is diverse: options include pulled pork, chicken, bacon and cheese, and the ultimate classic - beef, lettuce and tomato option. Each burger is served in a sweet brioche bun and arrives with chips, onion rings and leek coleslaw. For younger visitors, there's also dedicated children's menu. Alongside the food offering is a wide selection of drinks. Choose from beer, cider, spirits and soft drinks, and keep an eye out for the guest ales too.
For entertainment, there is a pool table and darts board, and live music nights are a regular occurrence. The pub also
boasts three wide-screen televisions, on which all major sporting events are shown. No matter the weather, The Brave Nelson is a great place to visit - there's a large open fire for the colder months, and ample outdoor seating in the beer garden for when the sun is shining
