Bridge Street, Halstead, CO9 1HU
Just a short drive from Braintree and 25 minutes from Stansted Airport, you will find the quaint Bull Hotel. Nestled in the attractive market town of Halstead, the hotel and pub are housed within a 500-year-old coaching inn, so history and character are in no short supply here. Old oak beams adorn the ceilings, the warmth of the open fires can be enjoyed in colder months and there are plenty of cosy and quirky nooks and crannies throughout.

Take a seat in the bar and enjoy a drink in the sociable, lively atmopshere, or order some classic British fare from the value-for-money menu at any time of day. A three-course meal might begin with potted smoked mackerel with toast, watercress and lemon or, quite simply, a bowl of plump, juicy olives. To follow, you can't go wrong with a traditional British beef and Old Speckled Hen ale pie, served with smooth mash, a medley of peas, green beans and Chantenay carrots, and, of course, lashings of rich gravy. The selection of desserts include gooseberry crumble with custard, and clotted cream cheesecake with fresh blueberries and strawberries - delicious. Upstairs there are ten comfortable en-suite bedrooms, in addition to the six modern rooms in the annexe, all of which are tastefully decorated in light colours - and you'll be pleased to hear that a hearty full-English breakfast is included in the price of your stay
