Omar's sits within what was once an old English bakery. The focus on quality ingredients is immediately evident, with proudly displayed photographs of local producers adorning the restaurant walls. A standard menu is offered alongside a range of speciality authentic Indian dishes that come with rice, sides and sauces. Our choice of starters were puran Dhaka - dainty bites of crispy dough with a spicy chickpea filling - with tangy tamarind dip, and a traditional spicy and sour Bengali dish called chotpoti fuchka. Our mains were spring lamb shoulder, slow cooked on the bone for maximum flavour, and a tandoori-grilled kebab of marinated paneer and vegetables. We followed on with kulfi , a delicious frozen dairy dessert flavoured with pistachio, almond or nougat.
