The Coach House Inn
Set in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside in the charming village of South Luffenham, you’ll find The Coach House. Having been taken over by new management in July 2017, this exquisite venue has been refurbished and updated to offer a relaxed spot in which to enjoy anything from a casual drink with friends to a peaceful weekend break. The bar at The Coach House has been greeting drinkers since the 18th century. Inside, the traditional aesthetic – complete with flagstone flooring and exposed brickwork – has remained relatively unchanged, offering an authentic feel. The range of drinks includes premium draught and bottled lagers, as well as cider and real ale. The carefully curated wine selection has been sourced from all over the world and there’s a variety of spirits and soft drinks on offer too.
Over in The Coach House’s restaurant, The Hayloft, diners are treated to varied menus full of modern British delights, all freshly prepared to order. At lunchtime, opt for a light snack in the form of one of the restaurant’s freshly made sandwiches. Fillings include mature Cheddar and tomato chutney, roast beef with Stilton and watercress, and roast chicken. Alternatively, the traditional beer-battered haddock and chips and the juicy beefburger offer more filling options. Visiting in the evening? Order an aperitif and begin by perusing the list of starters from The Hayloft’s fine dining-style menu. The creamy moules marinières come with homemade bread and the healthy roasted butternut squash salad, which is topped with goat’s cheese and pomegranate, is a vegetarian’s dream. Main courses include grilled dishes, hand-shaped artisan pizzas and traditional British plates. Expect luxurious classics such as succulent roast partridge served with smoked pancetta, flavoursome dry-aged steaks, and delicious pork loin Wellington, as well as more creative options including a spicy, lamb-based Kathmandu pizza, and mushroom and celeriac cannelloni.
