Characterised by its outstanding seasonal fare, well-drafted list of Old and New World wines, inspired cocktail menu and informative yet unobtrusive service, Tom Browns is a rural brasserie that leaves a lasting and eminently favourable impression on all who visit.

Inside, elegant decor and contemporary furnishings blend seamlessly, creating a smart, well-appointed space for all manner of functions, from intimate tables for two and small group bookings, to dining en masse for wedding breakfasts or corporate events. Outside, a well-tended dining terrace offers stunning riverside views throughout the year, with warm blankets and fire pits helping to ward off the chill in the cooler months.

Tom Browns’ menus are innovative and always make use of the season’s best produce. Think superb starters of crispy beef and Oriental vegetable salad with cashews, pomegranate and spring onion, and whipped goat’s cheese with mulled wine poached pear and walnut salad. Equally delectable, a typical main course offering might include braised blade of beef with creamy mash, caramelised shallots, celeriac purée, mushrooms, green beans and jus, or pan-fried sea bass fillets enhanced by red pepper relish, potato croquettes, courgettes, and saffron aioli. A range of stunning chargrilled steaks are cooked to your liking and served with the vegetables of the day, sautéed mushrooms, and your choice of truffle and Parmesan fries or chunky chips.

Those with a sweet-tooth will adore the seasonal selection of desserts, while the rest of us tuck into Tom Brown’s three cheese board, served with caramelised red onion chutney, mixed grapes, celery, and wheat crackers. If you’re craving something sweet but don’t have room for a whole dessert, why not plump for the chef’s beautiful petit fours accompanied by a cup of locally roasted coffee.

The brasserie’s exceptional fare and obliging service has been recognised by The Michelin Guide and has also been awarded two AA rosettes. Tom Browns thoroughly deserves its place among the best eateries in the region.
