The Plough at Normanton
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
When licensees and hosts Mark and Rachael Hughes first arrived at The Plough more than ten years ago, they wanted to offer a proper pub that serves high-quality, traditionally British meals. The dog-friendly pub stocks a great selection of real ale, lager, cider, wine, gin and spirits. The menus, which feature a variety of light bites, sandwiches, pies, steaks, Sunday roasts and the chef’s specials, change every six weeks. The team showcases the best of local, seasonal produce and caters for a range of dietary requirements. Pub classics are available throughout the week as early-evening specials. Steak night is every Tuesday and Thursday, and Friday is fish night. Throughout the summer, the barbecue is fired up in the large beer garden, which the Nottingham Post’s Food Sleuth said ‘may be the best beer garden in the shire’.
The Wolds Suite function room upstairs can hold up to 60 guests and is as flexible as it is inexpensive – perfect for private parties, functions and business meetings. Events are held throughout the year including the annual Beer Festival in July, the Dog Show in August and a New Year’s Eve party and New Year’s Day charity walk, as well as boules tournaments, treasure hunts, golf tournaments, ladies’ race days, and numerous other events for the local community. On special occasions, the Gin Tent makes an appearance, with 50 different gins on offer. To stay up to date with the latest events, follow The Plough on Facebook.
