Last Chance Saloon
Tucked away down the backstreets of Nottingham’s Lace Market is where savvy whiskey afi cionados will fi nd the Last Chance Saloon, an atmospheric, dimly lit speakeasy that does away with the Wild West cowboys-and-cheese showmanship. Instead, patrons can expect the largest American whiskey collection in the region, supported by a cocktail list that spans 200 years and embraces the whiskey classics of old, as well as cutting-edge house creations mixed by the saloon’s award-winning bartenders.
This isn’t your typical bar serving typical libations. The Last Chance Saloon’s seasoned whiskey experts can help you sift through the mammoth whiskey selection to fi nd exactly what it is you’re looking for, be it a quaff of Apple Pie Moonshine, a measure of Bacon Bourbon, or perhaps a dram of the delicious Pappy Van Winkle. Meanwhile, innovative techniques are used in inventive creations including the range of faux ales, serrano-washed Scotch, Irn Bru vodka, and Gin’oncello Prosecco.
The Saloon’s bourbon selection is complemented by an innovative bacon-led food offering inspired by owners Christian and Emma’s visit to Hell’s Kitchen, New York. On their return to the UK, Christian and Emma took their combined 20 years of cocktail bar experience and set about opening Last Chance Saloon, officiating the marriage of bacon and bourbon in Britain in the process. Served until 11.30pm every night, pretty much anything goes, be it Frank’s bacon-wrapped hot wings or bacon sushi.
Fun is never far away at the Last Chance. Grab £2 chilli dogs every Tuesday during Chilli Dog Chow Down, or head over for the saloon’s famous Bacon Bad Thursdays, offering you all-you-can-eat bacon for £9.99. As an added incentive, arrive before 8pm and enjoy the finest Old Fashioned, Whiskey Sour or Manhattan in the region for just £5.
On Sundays, Last Chance host their Whiskey in the Jar sessions, inviting whiskey experts – from brand ambassadors to master distillers – to share their insight and hand out a few samples to gatherings of discerning enthusiasts. Alternatively, enjoy a personalised whiskey masterclass. Prices range between £15 and £45, depending on just how serious you’re feeling.
