Situated in the picturesque countryside of Snarestone, The Odd House is a hidden gem serving food worthy of any of Leicestershire's most illustrious restaurants. This unique establishment strikes an impressive balance between fine dining and excellent home cooking.

Proprietors Vicky and Neil Costello are proud and passionate about The Odd House. This is reflected in the immaculate interior, decorated with quirky yet carefully placed trinkets; generous sofas make a glass of wine or pint of real ale seem even more indulgent.

There is no doubt whatsoever that it is the perfectly prepared food that makes The Odd House a wonderful place to visit. The restaurant upholds a strong, unshakable ethos - to provide fresh, seasonal and locally sourced food, created with skill and flair. The food is held in high esteem by the locals. So much so, in fact, that the ice cream supplier (from Gopsall Farm) can often be found enjoying a quiet beverage at the bar, while the arable farmers who supply the fruit and vegetables are regulars at the Sunday carvery.

The specials board at The Odd House comes highly recommended. One highlight is the chicken breast stuffed with haggis and served with a whiskey sauce. It is often said a sauce is the sign of a good chef; if this is the case then The Odd House is blessed. The deep sauce complements the sweet chicken and peppery, flavoursome haggis to perfection. The steaks are also - understandably - deservedly popular. The 8oz sirloin is great value at £12.25. The chef's cheesecakes are renowned for being indulgent, while the bread and butter pudding (complete with Baileys and Swiss chocolate) is as light as it is heavenly. The Odd House is a rare find, worth travelling any distance for
