The Castle Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The team at The Castle Inn keeps good food and impeccable service at the forefront of their operation. Once inside this charming traditional inn, it’s not diffi cult to relax and unwind. The interior is an effortless blend of rural British and Mediterranean infl uences, which create an atmospheric and lively venue that locals and visitors to the region naturally flock to. Vibrant colours, wooden furnishings, local artwork and a lovely wood-burning fireplace complete an already wonderful scene.
When it comes to food, Mediterranean influences are again prevalent. Chargrilled dishes, pizzas and calzone, and summer salads all feature on the crowd-pleasing menu. Stone-baked pizzas are especially popular, and are made with homemade dough to a thin and crispy recipe and served straight from the wood-fired oven. You could instead opt for prawn, crayfish, pea and chilli linguine, or chargrilled chicken accompanied by pancetta, peas, onions, garlic potatoes and tarragon cream. Additionally, the inn’s daily specials board takes masterful advantage of the season’s local yield.
Weekends always promise to be particularly atmospheric. Live music brings the pub to life and tribute acts do the rounds here at least once a month. The team also recently introduced their Sunday Sessions series of events, showcasing local acoustic acts and bands. 2017 also saw the opening of The Castle Inn’s rooftop garden. It’s a prime spot for relaxation in the sunshine with a pint, a gin and tonic from the fine collection, or something from the inn’s stellar food menu. Weather permitting, the rooftop stays open until 9.30pm most days.
The final string to The Castle Inn’s already winning bow is the Rose Room. This delightfully appointed function room is perfect for all manner of private get-togethers and events, such as wedding breakfasts, family parties and corporate shindigs. A private bar, sound system and roof terrace allow the team to cater to event planners’ exacting needs.
