The Red Lion Bar & Bistro
Dating back to the 17th century, Red Lion Bar & Bistro is nestled on the edge of the stunning Peak District National Park, just a short drive from historic Chatsworth House and the market towns of Bakewell and Matlock. The stunning venue combines the classic, natural beauty of the Peak District with the sleek elegance of modern boutique hospitality.
Recently awarded their second rosette from the AA, the restaurant continues to earn accolades, most recently being named Gastropub of the Year at the 2016 Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards. On arrival, relax and unwind in the lounge bar where open fires, comfy seating and low lighting create a relaxed, cosy atmosphere; or on a sunny day, dine al fresco on the beautiful outside terrace. The à la carte menu is served daily from 6pm, and showcases innovative seasonal dishes created by the inspirational head chef and his talented team, who source produce locally from the natural larder that is Derbyshire. The bar is well-stocked with local ales and an outstanding collection of wine, and operates a two-for-one offer on cocktails on Tuesday evenings.
The adjoining Peak Edge Hotel, which opened in April 2011, is a modern boutique hotel built to complement the pre-existing Red Lion Bar & Bistro. All 26 bedrooms have been finished to a very high standard and boast picturesque views over Derbyshire’s beautiful countryside.
