Red Lion at The Peak Edge Hotel
Proudly positioned on the edge of the Peak District, this elegant venue combines a welcoming atmosphere and an exciting menu that brings together the freshest local ingredients. On sunny days the newly refurbished terrace area is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing drink and spectacular views of the Peak District. In winter, venture inside and settle down in front of the open fire with a glass of mulled wine.
The menu, carefully compiled by head chef Dan Sung, features a winning combination of popular pub classics and innovative new dishes. You might sample the trio of duck, comprising pan-fried duck breast, bon bon and confi t leg paired with potato rosti, grilled pak choi and a brandy and orange jus. For a tasty vegetarian alternative you may prefer the grilled-vegetable tower – a delicious construction of Portobello mushroom, grilled courgette, aubergine and goat’s cheese in a herb and balsamic dressing. To accompany your meal you’ll find a well-stocked bar, an extensive wine list and a number of real ales from local breweries. Why not round off your meal with a scrumptious pudding and a cup of rich coffee? The chocolate and Eton Mess profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries are exceptional, or for a lighter option, try the iced mango parfait with lime curd, mango and mint salsa and coconut tuiles.
