Situated about seven miles outside Newark, The Plough Inn is central to village life and popular with locals. Enthusiastic new owners Matt and Rachel are proud of their pub - they have worked hard to retain its original character whilst adding their own modern touches to the decor.

The pair, along with their talented head chef Dan, are committed to using independent local suppliers and the menu changes daily to reflect this. Everything is made fresh on site, including Dan's hearty homemade bread. We sampled pheasant breast on pea risotto, butterflied prawns, roast turkey and salmon Wellington - all were excellent. The restaurant also runs popular themed nights alongside their main menu, such as steak nights on Saturdays. Just as passionate about their drinks as they are about their food, Matt and Rachel also offer a full selection of lagers, beers, wines and soft drinks, as well as guest real ales which change regularly.

Matt and Rachel's aim is to provide quality food and drinks at affordable prices, and the duo have certainly achieved this and more. Whether you choose to eat in the restaurant or outdoors in the huge attractive beer garden, you are guaranteed to feel comfortable and welcome - the mark of an excellent pub.
