If you're wondering how this stylish restaurant and bar in central Leicester got its name, you'll soon realise once you step through the door - a draught beer tap sits on each table, offering drinkers and diners the rather novel experience of pulling their own pint. But this unique idea isn't the only reason patrons keep coming back for more - the food is just as inventive, with contemporary European delights aplenty on the menu.

You won't find any same-old sandwiches on the lunchtime bill of fare; instead, they offer tasty skewers, hand-pressed burgers in toasted ciabatta rolls, and crunchy nachos topped with melted cheese. Of course, you'll still find a selection of sandwiches, wraps and ciabatta rolls, with exciting fillings like chilli honey paneer, pork and apple, and Brie, cranberry and toasted hazelnut. The kitchen team here obviously enjoy experimenting with new flavours. The same goes for their evening à la carte. You'll find starters like terrine of guinea fowl, chicken and shiitake mushroom and hazelnut-crusted goat's cheese, and mains such as slow-braised blade of beef and smoked mozzarella and Provençal vegetables drizzled in a garlic and parsley dressing. Having a beer tap at your table is a great novelty, but Taps offers so much more besides - spirited staff, an impressive menu and snug surroundings all combine to create a tip-top venue.
