La Dolce Vita
After cracking a bottle of the chilled house white, we indulged in firm olives, fresh bread and the antipasto mista. Immediately I could taste the soothing climate and Italian fervour poured into the making of the freshly imported delicacies, including classic devilled whitebait.
Over humorous repartee with the waiter, I ordered al pepe verde, a fillet of beef with green pepper sauce, and got rather excited as it approached the table.
Whilst indulging in the remarkably tender fillets, served with fresh vegetables al dente and chunky potato chips, I concluded the dish a winner for certain. The pollo al taleggio deserves equal recognition.
I feared that I wouldn't be able to manage a pudding, but enticed as always by the prospect of something sweet, I went for the timeless tiramisu - and glad that I did. We left with warm-hearted regards to the waiter for a wonderful, memorable evening, and I don't doubt that every other dish on the menu, and the service here night after night, would consistently earn the same praise.
