The Cricketers

The Cricketers is a family-run affair - Alex, who has been in the trade for 16 years, runs the pub with his wife Claire and his mum - and as such has a friendly, home-from-home feel that makes it a go-to drinking and dining spot for locals. As the cricket ground is situated just behind the pub, this is especially true on match days, when cricket fans head here to enjoy a post-match pint. At the bar you'll find four real ales - two from Everards, and two monthly changing guest ales - as well as four draught lagers. Food-wise, expect hearty, satisfying British classics, including garlic mushrooms in brandy and garlic sauce to start, an award-winning fish pie featuring big chunks of fresh smoked haddock, cod, salmon and prawns for the main course, and homemade seasonal crumble to finish
