Legend has it that the legendary 18th-century racecourse Hercules, owned by the Dixie family, has been revived and returned as an innkeeper at this lovely pub set in the picturesque village of Sutton Cheney.
With Hercules keeping a watchful eye over affairs, guests are assured of tasty food and tip-top tipples when they stop by. Hercules Revived retains the values of a proper English pub and boasts views of the meadow and Saint James church next door, allowing diners to forget the outside world for a while. On the ground floor you’ll discover a bar and large open fire, while the first floor has various elegant restaurant rooms you can dine in.
Head chef Glyn Windross and his keen team place emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients and have carefully picked a handful of local producers to supply the restaurant with meat, fish, vegetables and delicious cheese.
The Woodshed is the brand new outdoor dining area, where you can sit and chow down on a wood-fired pizza during spring and summer. Every Monday night from 6pm, you can order a takeaway pizza and add a glass of Prosecco for extra pizzazz. Whether you’re after a quick pit-stop pint, a casual light lunch, or hearty dinner, Hercules Revived has it covered.
