Zayka is a small but perfectly formed restaurant where fine Indian dining is the name of the game. Authentic cuisine is prepared by top-class chefs, who use only the freshest ingredients and best-quality herbs and spices to create dishes that are sure to impress even the most discerning Indian-food fan. The attention to detail found in the food is also present throughout the restaurant - we found it to be contemporary, fresh and tastefully decorated, with Denby crockery proffering a nod to the local area. The professional serving staff were happy to make recommendations - nothing was too much trouble for them.

I began with the pan-seared soft-shell crab which was robustly flavoured yet maintained a light and delicate texture. My companion chose the murgh chandi tikka, a dish with wow-factor thanks to its immaculate presentation. The chicken was moist and tender, and the sauce was rich with a piquant kick. For mains, I plumped for the Goan fish curry, featuring chunks of monkfish cooked in a sweet coconut sauce, while my companion chose the roast lamb lazeez with a creamy and complexly spiced sauce. The passion that experienced owner and head chef Manish has for authentic Indian food and his restaurant shone through in every dish
